So two weeks ago, I found myself in an odd predicament.. I was sick!
Sickness and colds aren’t very common for me here in recent years after I changed my eating habits, but oh, when it hits- IT HITS.
Whenever I do get sick, I always drink this easy to make concoction of natural goodness which tends to spring me right back.
For a dry cough only:
(If you are coughing up phlegm read the sinus section. You never want to suppress a cough with phlegm as it will prohibit your body’s natural response and defense mechanisms to wellness. Phlegm is a mucous bacteria that is not needful to your body. Your body knows this and that’s why it causes you to cough it up as a means of ridding itself of harm)- 1 cup of water (cold or room temp)
- 1-3 cap-fills of Apple Cider Vinegar (depends on the severity and frequency of your cough)
- 4 tbsp (or to taste) of Raw Honey, room temp or cold- if you can afford local honey, even better! ***This is best and most effective drank cold. Honey is a natural antibacterial/antiviral sweetener that is only effective in combating infections when consumed at room temperature or cold. When we add heat to honey say in teas, coffees or baked goods, the heat diminishes its antibacterial/antiviral properties leaving you with, well, just a sweetener.
- -----------------------------------------------
- 1/2 cup of boiling water
- 1/2 cup of boiling Chicken Broth
- 1-3 pinches of Cayenne Pepper
- 1-2 sprigs of fresh Thyme
- 1 big clove of fresh Garlic
- 1 bigger ring of fresh Onion (chopped so all is submerged in liquid)
- 1 tsp of table salt (or to taste)
- 2 1inch sized shavings of fresh ginger
-----------------------------------------------
For a sore throat infection:
This one is my favorite! - Cut 1-3 (however much you can stand to eat before the acid burns your lips) rings out of a fresh but ripened pineapple.
- Dip, drizzle or drown the pineapple in raw honey and EAT!
Let me know if this works for you!
